1500 Early Music Ensemble

go back

1500 is a vocal and instrumental ensemble directed by Andrés Díaz and devoted to the performing of early music.

Specifically, its repertoire encompasses music composed from the central centuries of the Middle Ages to the early Renaissance, taking as a central point the year 1500, which provides its name.

Its members have an extensive performing experience, being members or collaborators of other ensembles on a national or international level (Malandança, Chamber Ensemble of the University of Santiago, In Itinere, Música Doméstica, Capela Compostelá, Martín Códax, Resonet, Ultreia, etc.), and they play in concerts both in Galicia and in the rest of Spain and Europe.

In the preparation and performance of its different programmes, the ensemble applies the most exacting historical and conceptual rigour, using a broad array of copies of original medieval and renaissance instruments.

In addition to their concert activity, they also carry out other kinds of music-related projects, from their design and conception to the actual playing: original soundtracks for audio-visual products (the short film Cadea perpetua and the documentaries O mariscal, mito, lenda e realidade and Cetreiros do Século XXI), concerts, guides and educational materials and monographic concerts focussing on a specific topic.
